If you shoot an M&P and want real accuracy without the hype, this barrel delivers. The Apex Grade 9mm Gunsmith Fit Barrel is built for shooters who value precision over flash. Priced at $260, it’s a straight upgrade for your Smith & Wesson that puts tight groups where they belong — on the target, not in the ad copy.
Real accuracy numbers: Sub-one-inch 5-shot groups at 25 yards. That’s not a maybe. When properly fitted to both the slide and frame, these barrels can hold 1.00” or better, assuming you do your part. The 1:10” twist rate and Apex’s patented locking geometry make it happen. This is the barrel trusted by law enforcement agencies nationwide for duty use — no gimmicks, just results.
What you need to know before buying:
- Fitment: This is a gunsmith-fit barrel. It requires fitting to both the slide and frame of your M&P for the accuracy it’s capable of. If you’re not comfortable with hand fitting, have a qualified gunsmith do it.
- Loaded Chamber Indicator: If your slide has an LCI, you’ll need to either remove it entirely or install the Apex No Profile Loaded Chamber Indicator Block (sold separately).
- Caliber Conversion Use: These barrels work as conversion barrels for M&P and M2.0 pistols originally chambered in .40 S&W or .357 SIG. Drop the appropriate length Apex 9mm barrel into your .40 or .357 gun and you can shoot 9mm. You’ll need a 9mm magazine for proper function.
- Conversion barrel note: We recommend using this barrel for training and practice only if you’re converting from .40 or .357. If you plan to trust your life to the pistol, buy it in the caliber you intend to carry.
- Barrel hood gap: When installed in a .40 or .357 slide, you’ll see a gap on either side of the barrel hood. That’s normal. It does not affect accuracy.
- Extractors: If you run into extraction or feeding issues during conversion use, clean the extractor hook and the inside of the slide thoroughly. An Apex Failure Resistant Extractor is also recommended.
- Recoil assembly: For conversion use, stick with a factory recoil assembly appropriate for your slide length.
