Disassembly Punch – 3/32″

This 3/32″ Disassembly Punch from Apex is a spring-loaded tool built to make one specific, stubborn job a lot easier: removing the Front Locking Block Pin on FN 509, FN 510, and FN 545 pistols. It’s a dedicated solution for a common headache, not a multi-tool that does everything poorly. The tip has been modified to be flat, which means it seats directly on the pin face for a clean, direct transfer of force. No slipping, no marring, no wasted motion.

If you’re maintaining multiple FN pistols or just want to avoid fighting with a hammer and punch every time you break one down, this tool pays for itself fast. The design is simple: a spring-powered hammer that drives a pin. You align the punch in the Apex Disassembly Fixture (sold separately, and strongly recommended for consistent results), stretch the spring about 2 inches, and release. The energy hits the pin face directly, and with a few impacts, the pin pops free. It’s repeatable, predictable, and cuts down on cussing.

How to use it (the short version):

• Wear safety glasses. Remove all ammunition from the workspace. No shortcuts here.
• Unload and field strip the pistol per the factory manual.
• Remove the Take Down Lever from the frame.
• Place the frame into the correct Apex Disassembly Fixture.
• Set the fixture on a solid surface—leg of a workbench or concrete floor works well.
• Lower the punch tip into the fixture hole until it contacts the Front Locking Block Pin.
• Hold the anvil rings firmly with one hand to keep everything steady.
• With the other hand, pull the hammer rings to stretch the spring about 2 inches, then release.
• Check alignment after each strike. Repeat as needed.
